Our story.

Flexi House was founded in 2020 by André, a Product Designer that desperately saw the need for change in New Zealand’s housing and construction industry.

André brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Platform Design for Manufacture and Assembly (P-DfMA) from his time aborad working for a leading multi-disciplinary Architecture firm that specaliised in developing Construction Systems for large infrastructure projects such ad the London Underground and high-rise apartments.

Personally faced with the challenges of New Zealand’s housing market, André set about designing a housing system that could ease many of the problems in the construction industry to increase the supply of housing.

Flexi was born, and ever since, we have been challenging the way we build homes in New Zealand adopting a system of standardised and repeatable building components designed to scale housing in Aotearoa.

Our values.

Flexi aims to provide high-quality healthy homes for everyday Kiwis. Our staged building approach could get you into your forever home faster and save you thousands in mortgage interest! What’s more, the Flexi system lets you add or remove rooms as your needs change so your home can grow with you.

The Flexi system utilises circular economy principles that enable our building components to be disassembled at the end of life and recycled rather than sent to the landfill. Furthermore, by using sustainably-sourced timber, mitigating steel, and eliminating concrete and plasterboard, Flexi Houses have significantly lower embodied carbon than typical construction!

Flexi is challenging the construction industry structured for one-off builds with our product approach to housing. But we don’t want to keep it a secret – we think everyone should be building offsite and with repeatable and reusable components! As the first of its kind in NZ, Flexi House is striving to be a catalyst for change, challenging the way we build houses.
