Flexi’s High-Performance Envelope

We’re making high-performance homes simple.

We’ve created the ultimate construction buildup that ensures a continuous thermal envelope. This high-performance system takes the guesswork out of building low-energy, thermally efficient homes.

But, don’t just trust us, we’ve done the R&D, modelling, prototyping, and real world testing, and now we can share the data with you!

Our Envelope Buildup

  • Exterior Ventilation Cavities

  • Continuous Rigid Weather Resitive Barrier

  • Reduced Thermal Bridging

  • Continuous Insulation Zones

  • Continuous Airtightness Layer

  • Recessed uPVC Glazing

  • Interior Service Cavities

  • Extra High Wind Zone Flashings & Detailing

Performance Reports

  • Thermal Energy Modelling - using the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) to understand the heating and cooling demand by VIA Architecture

  • Hygrothermal Modelling - using (WUFI) to reduce interstitual condensation risk by Kaizon

  • Blower Door Test - an airtightness test to ensure no air (heat) leakage by ProClima

  • Tempreature/ Humidity Sensors - we’ve installed sensors throughout our showhomes structure to understand exactly how the envelope performs.

Thermal Energy Modelling.

Seriously warm, dry and comfortable.

Thermal energy modelling conducted by VIA Architecture proves that the Flexi House Show Home is 46% more efficient than the new H1 updates to the New Zealand Building Code.

Traditional vs Flexi.

We get asked all the time what the difference is between a 'traditional house’ and a Flexi House…

We’ve created the ultimate buildup that ensures a continuous thermal envelope.

Airtightness.

Our Show Home achieved a Blower Door Test result of 1.29ACH.

Airtightness is a key metric in assessing how energy efficient a dwelling is. The easier it is to control the airspace, the easier it is to keep it at a comfortable temperature. This space is then mechanically ventilated with heat recovery so that you’re not losing precious energy running the heat pump.

Lower Carbon.

Flexi House was included in an Embodied Carbon study by the University of Auckland.

By addressing the Embodied Carbon of our materials - in addition to the Operational Carbon as a result of building an energy-efficient home - Flexi House has a significantly lower Global Warming Potential than other construction methods and build-ups.

Sustainability Lifecycle V4.png

Truly sustainable.

We’re putting people and the planet first!

Built from locally sourced, renewable and environmentally friendly materials - our houses have significantly less embodied carbon and produce less operational carbon than a typical new home. We also feature a first-of-its-kind reusable componentry system to extend the useful life of our panels.
