Completion.

The first Flexi House is complete. After 7 weeks in the Makers Fabrication factory, 13 hours to achieve weathertight assembly and 6 weeks of fitout onsite at Forest Lodge Orchard in Cromwell, the Flexi is habitable. It is already functioning as accommodation, office space and a smoko room for the orchard staff.

We've learned so much from our prototype build. It has been an invaluable experience being onsite to oversee construction, as well as our involvement in the factory during offsite manufacture. Thanks very much to the proud owners of the first Flexi, Mike and Rebecca Casey, for their hospitality!

A special thank you to our partners Makers Fabrication, Makers of Architecture, The Settlement, Align, Kaizon, Dunning Thornton Consultants, Fieldcraft, Cooper Furniture & Joinery, Flip Design, Speedy Signs Hutt Valley, Scratch Design, and Vivid Origin for supporting us on our journey.

Thanks to our advisors Duane Cameron, Doug Ollivier, Thomas Magill, and Stu Barr, our software lead Mathew Webster, and brand and graphic designer Alexsia Heller. The first Flexi House is dedicated to the memory of Nick Hobson, an advisor and mate who passed away earlier this year. Flexi would not be where we are today without his guidance and encouragement.

Our onsite delivery team made it happen in Cromwell: Brian and Shane from Austin Transport; Olly, Tom and Jack from Makers Fabrication; Gareth Stanger; Luke and the team from Luke Cunliffe Builder; Noel from Edwards Plumbing; Jason, Luke and Adam from Sangster Electrical; Rob from TAC Projects; Isaac and Matt from INB; Brayden and Ty from Eco Home Builders; R&R Hiab Services and Luke from Optimum Flooring Installations. A special mention must go to FLO Manager Euan White for granting us space to store materials over the duration of the project - he’s loving his new office!

Our suppliers provided us with high-quality products and materials: Flooring Xtra Cromwell, Harrisons Curtains and Blinds Cromwell, Continuous Group Cromwell, Magpie Scaffolding, Lighting Direct Lower Hutt, The Heating Company, Wight Aluminium, Natural Paint Co., NZ Natural Timber Co., Plymasters, Fastmount, Independent Doors Ltd, Nelson Pine Industries, Terra Lana, Surefoot Foundations, P&P Queenstown Painters, River View Contracting, Norseclad, Metalcraft Gracefield, Anzor Fasteners, Wurth Group, Made of Tomorrow, Plumbing World, Oakley Plumbing Supplies, and Curran Fabrication.

Scott Fisher and OffsiteNZ gave us valuable industry insight along the way, Central Otago District Council made the consenting stage a breeze, The University of Auckland verified our low carbon claims, and Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities looked on with growing interest and the potential to work together in the future.

Thanks to the following for educating and inspiring: Dr Antony Pelosi from Victoria University of Wellington; Gerard Finch and XFrame; Daniel Gudsell and Ben Campbell from Abodo Wood Ltd; Ben Critchlow from Kaizon; Josh Aitken from Compound; Arbol; Modulo; Tristan Franklin, Stephan Mäusli and Thomas Kästner from Hector Egger New Zealand; Oculus Architectural Engineering; and Thomas van Raamsdonk, Simon Gibbon and Catherine McGregor from Pro Clima. Special thanks to Pro Clima for conducting our Blower Door Test demonstration which gave us a pre-line ACH of 1.29! To put that in perspective, a conventional new build in NZ would typically achieve 4-5 ACH, while the PassivHaus standard is <0.6 ACH.

Thanks to our photographers who captured the action from factory to completion: Patina Photography, Venari Ltd, and Tom Green Photography. They got some awesome shots!

Finally, a big thank you must go to all of our investors for believing in Flexi from the start. We are looking forward to the upcoming raise and developing a truly scalable housing product.
